Product Spotlight: Pure Argan Oil

So what is Argan Oil anyway? I’m sure you’ve heard of it. Every beauty blog an magazine talks about this stuff and how awesome it is so I wanted to share more about it with you.

Pure Argan Oil from Bathe Happy

Pure Argan Oil from Bathe Happy

Argan oil is pressed from the nut of the fruit of the Argan Tree, which is only found in Morocco. The argan tree lives to be about 150 to 200 years old and does not start producing the fruit until it is 30 to 50 years old. Because the tree is found only in a limited area, the oil itself is quite rare. To make argan oil, Moroccan workers—mostly women—peel the outer layer of the tree fruit then pound its inner nut with a rock to extract kernels, from which the oil is extracted. These women for the most part belong to various women’s co-ops supported by various organizations worldwide representing women’s rights.

Argan Oil is truly an all-purpose beauty tool. Argan oil is most effective as a moisturizer, toner, and topical treatment for general hair, skin, and nail problems. Argan oil in its purest form is highly effective. Therefore, it does not need other ingredients in order to keep its effectiveness and freshness. Pure and preservative-free Argan oil is best to use for your daily skin and hair regimen.

Cosmetics expert Marla Malcolm Beck, the CEO and co-founder of Bluemercury.com says “Argan oil has incredible conditioning and anti-aging properties that keep hair and skin revitalized, It’s great for dry skin, does not clog pores, helps minimize fine lines, and can treat split ends. Argan oil can help people with mild acne as the oleic acid found in the oil helps promote healthy levels of sebum production, and its linoleic acid helps prevent excess dead skin cells by promoting healthy skin turnover.”

While all of this is common to hear about Argan Oil, clinical testing of it is slim to none so it’s best to take a lot of things with a grain of salt and try it out for yourself. Everyone has different skin and hair needs but Argan Oil seems to really work for everyone that tries it.

Here are some things I love about Argan Oil after using it for myself (I’ve been using it for over a year now):

For My Hair:

  • Better Curl Definition
  • Less Noticeable Split Ends (Keep in mind there is no miracle cure for split ends besides a haircut.)
  • Less Frizz
  • More Shine

For My Nails:

  • Less Splitting
  • Healthier Cuticles

For My Skin:

  • Super Hydrated Without Feeling Oily
  • Healthier Glow

For My Face:

  • Less Acne
  • Fewer Breakouts
  • ZERO Dryness or Flakiness (which I have always struggled with)
  • Healthier Glow
  • Clearer Pores

Pure Argan Oil typically retails from $20-$100 per oz. Big name brands that sell it jumped on the Argan Oil Bandwagon and added huge mark ups. You won’t find that at Bathe Happy. Our Pure Argan Oil is $15 for 1 oz. and 27.50 for 2 oz. To compare you can check out Josie Maran who sells the same stuff at Sephora for $14 for just .5 oz., $48 for 1.7 oz., and $96 for 4 oz.

Back From Our Break!

Hello Happy Bathers! Angie, Joey, and Rush have returned home so I am now back on a normal working schedule. Their trip up was a lot of fun but also very tiring. Everyone is just exhausted but it was great to see them. I apologize for my absence it was much harder than I realized to try and work and play hostess.

Unfortunately dress shopping was not the fun I was hoping for. It was actually pretty discouraging. I thought shopping for your wedding dress was supposed to be exciting and fun but yeah not so much on that one. I got really excited about one Jasmine dress, I was sure it would be THE DRESS and then found out 3 days later that the changes we’d want made to the dress (like adding sleeves and getting some additional lace to fill in a few open areas that hit me in the wrong spot) would push the dress way out of our price range.

So I’ve been hosting a massive pity party about it because now I’ve pretty much lost almost all hope of finding a dress. That’s actually why there was no post yesterday; I spent half the morning in the fetal position crying. Yes there is still the dress maker I was working with but I am very leery of buying something I can’t even see let alone try on and in photos her work can’t compare to the Jasmine dress. There was one other Jasmine dress I was in love with but it was too expensive from the get-go so there was no attempt to try it on, the sample would have been too small anyway. Now it looks like the dress that was originally to expensive would be cheaper in the end than the less expensive ‘dream dress’. It’s all very frustrating and very confusing.

There is good news though. While they were here many products were made. There are Waterlily Citrus Loofa Soaps, Ginger Lime Loofa Soaps, Turkish Mocha Soaps, Rosemary Citrus Soaps, Rosemary Lavender Soaps, Argan Oil, and Coffee Scrubs. All are awaiting photography when the sun finally comes out and then they will get listed in the store. All the soaps are beautiful and the fragrances are amazing.

I hope I can share the new products with you soon. My goal is to get them listed before the big sale starts next week!

Have a great day all!

So What’s Next for Bathe Happy?

Happy Hump Day! I got my cowboy boots for the wedding today and they are PERFECT! I am very happy with them.

I mentioned yesterday that I was going to talk about the future of Bathe Happy and what our plans were, so that is what today’s post is about.

For the moment I am scrapping Indiegogo. You really need to have a video presentation and unfortunately my computer issues are making that really hard to do. It is also incredibly slow right now. There is low traffic on the site, in the store, and on Facebook/Twitter. It is the Etsy slow season and no traffic dooms the campaign before it starts. I’m putting it on hold for now and will pick it back up this fall.

For now the focus will be on new products we can afford to start now. Soon we will be carrying Lip Balms, Pure Argan Oil, Body and Face Scrubs, Shaving Soaps, Face Soap, and possibly a few other things. I am also going to get a few molds to start work on wedding favors as well as relisting the Bath Salts in a new format. The Cold Process Soaps I will hopefully be able to start later in the year as we make more money, I will just need to start more slowly than I’d hoped to.

Pricing will be in line with what I am already charging for items. The Argan Oil will be priced a little higher as it is a pure and expensive oil but I will not be charging near what companies like Josie Maran charge ($14 for half an ounce is a little beyond ridiculous in my humble opinion.)

This will all be as the summer progresses, little by little. Starting in early August look for Solid Perfumes, the Argain Oil, and the start of our fall fragrances.

That’s it for today folks! I’ll be back tomorrow with more new ideas and some info on a few of our new fragrances that we’ll be testing.

New Product Ideas

So its hump day and this is a relatively late post for me. Been busy wedding planning while I have the motivation and decided I’d better get to blogging while the sun’s still shining.

I DID find boots for the wedding! We ended up deciding to order them online. These are the ones I’m going with:

51g+a+sYVTL

Stud Muffin has his picked out but he’s going to order them later. Mine are more pressing since I need to be in them for dress fittings in a few weeks.

While I’ve been doing my wedding planning I’ve been doing a list of new product ideas as they pop in my head. Obviously there is the stuff I want to start if the Indiegogo campaign is successful but I was thinking things I can definitely afford to do now. One thing I know I will be carrying is 100% Pure Argan Oil. It is amazing stuff and I finally found a reasonable, ethical, supplier. Other things that I’m looking into are moisturizing oils, lotions, lip gloss, lip balm, nail polish, body butter, shaving soap, and scrubs.

The lip balms I have now will be listed in a few days. Lighting has been poor lately so photography has not been something do-able.

Let me know your thoughts! Is there anything you’d like Bathe Happy to carry?
