Monday Funday!

Happy Monday all!

 

To say we had a productive weekend would be an understatement.

 

– Stud Muffin and I ordered our Wedding Rings and Wedding Cake. We (I) wrote our wedding vows. Basically he told me what he wanted to say based on various different vows we’ve read and I complied our ideas into something personal and custom for us. I will share these after the ceremony. Stud Muffin’s ring was purchased through an ETSY shop we will feature later this month once his ring is here. Less than 4 weeks to go!

 

– Pretty One made the Junior Olympic Volleyball team at the volleyball club she plays at. Don’t let the Olympic name fool you it is just the level they compete at and she is registered with USA Volleyball. It is a nation wide level of competition and the highest level she can compete at for her age group. We are ridiculously happy and proud that she made the cut! Her first practice is the day after the wedding  and they play from January until June. Its going to mean a lot of travel and a lot of volleyball to watch for us. We are all so excited. I will have more information about when and where the tournaments are in a few weeks so I could potentially schedule appearances and sales at local events and shows.

This is what our first 7 months of wedded bliss will look like.

– We may be running a Bathe Happy fundraiser for the Volleyball fees. More to follow on that as we decide what, if anything, we want/can do.

 

– I have the starting framework for home parties in place for Bathe Happy. More details coming soon.

– Florida State beat the heck out of Miami.

Over all I would say the weekend was awesome. Soaping supplies will be here today so expect lots of product updates in the near future. Holiday bundles will be coming! We are planning a few big holiday sales. I recommend stocking up fast once the new products are out.

I will be doing a ton of crochet over the next several weeks. I need to get a blanket for Pretty One made pronto. It can get very cold at volleyball tournaments and its good to have something to wrap up in so I am making her one in her club colors. Expects photos, status updates, and tutorials.

I will also be working on brooch bouquets for the wedding party (mine is done) and I will have tutorials for those as well.

We’re Still Here!

It was not so graciously brought to my attention by one of my readers that it’s been “FOREVER” since I’ve posted to the blog. So I’m back with an update. While it hasn’t been “FOREVER” it HAS been close to a month since the last post. I apologize for that, quite a bit has been going on that needed to get taken care of.

So here is the low down:

Stud Muffin and I have called off the wedding (including our back up plan to the previous cancellation of the big wedding). We are still getting married but it is going to be a small, private ceremony, officiated by my sister, held at our favorite restaurant during Thanksgiving break. I think there will be a total of 13 people there, possibly 14. It’s not exactly what we want. Honestly it’s not even close to what I want but what I am getting in return makes cancelling worth it (see the next paragraph).

In giving up the wedding plans we’ve decided to have a baby. Either one of our own or if we are unable to conceive we plan to adopt (which is entirely possible given our ages and personal medical issues). We’ve also decided to buy our own home. None of this will happen before Pretty One graduates in 2016 but it is something to plan and save for. By plan I am not joking when I say I am already planning out nursery ideas (remember how much I love stars) and we spend a couple hours a week discussing baby names. My personal favorites at the moment are Dominic Alexander and Katie Mae.

Part of the decision to cancel is because the IRS still owes us over $5,000.00. With the government shut down it is looking like we aren’t going to see it any time soon. Because of the money we are owed Bathe Happy is also in a holding pattern. I can’t start home parties until I have the money to do so and that money is in that $5k we are owed. The same goes for craft shows. We’ve had to cancel next week’s appearance because we can’t afford the booth fees and we haven’t yet been able to pay for the next Girl’s Day Out (coming up in Dec.) either.

Sales are slowly picking up, which has been great, but there haven’t been any sizeable purchases. Hoping to see more coming up in the next several weeks.

Lots and lots of crocheting going on as the weather cools. I’ve been making wristers (cute fingerless gloves) for the current challenge for The Crochet Crowd. I started a blanket for Pretty One in her school colors. I’ve also been working on donations for the Crochet-arium charity.  I made a freeform mermaid doll that I am super proud of. I’ve also been getting back into cross stitch. It’s something I had a massive interest in when I was younger and now I am getting back into it.

So that’s where we are now. I’m still working through the disappointment with not having the wedding but the smaller ceremony will still be nice. In the coming days and weeks I will lay out the details and will be getting back into daily blogs. Things here have really been rough but hopefully as the year ends it will start looking up.

All that’s left to do now is to wash it and ship it. Hopefully she will have it by the middle of next week!

Baby Amelia Is Here!

Introducing Miss Amelia Grace:

Born August 15, 2013 at 6:12 p.m. EST 7.03 pounds and 21 inches. Isn’t she PERFECT! I am one happy ‘Auntie’. I can’t wait to meet her!

Since the beautiful Miss Amelia has made her entrance into the world I thought it was a good time to update y’all on blanket progress for The Crochet Crowd’s summer challenge. Work stalled on it for a while when my sister was here but I am back at it and cranking out as many rows a day as I can.

It’s big enough now that today’s update required laying it in the middle of my living room floor to get a good photo.

It’s right at about 5’ x 3’ so it’s plenty big enough for a baby blanket but a little small for a ‘grow up blanket’ as I’ve been calling it. The size it is now would likely work for her until she was in 3^rd grade or so.  After that it would become more of a lap size blanket or a wrap. Here is a photo with my iPad on it so you can gauge size:

I am sincerely sorry about the late post, I haven’t been near my PC for much of the day and just got back from dropping Pretty One off at her Mom’s new house in the city. Also YAY for Pretty One making the Sophomore Volleyball team at school as a starter! So proud!

My goodness this week is flying right by. I apologize for the lack of a post yesterday. It was a very busy day and then all of a sudden I looked at the clock and it was 10 pm! It was one of those ‘ooooops’ moments when I realized I’d forgotten all about the blog!

Here is how us Happy Hookers can help! From now through October 20^th, 2013 the Crochet Crowd is compiling under-the-sea themed items for their Crochet-arium! They are designing a 20×30 foot space to be filled to the brim with items. All of the proceeds got to Crafting For A Cure. For each person that submits 5 items or more you are entered in a drawing to receive an awesome prize but the prize is secondary to all the children you’d be helping.

This is a great way to use up some scrap yarn and get creative!
